Were my books written by AI? No. I wrote them, I edited them, and I stand by them. But Google provided information, ProWritingAid helped with line edits and grammar, Grammarly checked my spelling, and Gemini reviewed the manuscript to flag inconsistencies and suggest plot points when I asked for them. AI is a tool, nothing more. But if knowing AI helped me get a book out in two months instead of the normal six bothers you, then close the book, ask Amazon for your money back, and get the fuck off my lawn.
I use AI more for my articles simply because I have books to write, but in today’s world — with the worthless pieces of shit running around in our government, our religious institutions, and sadly our own communities — I feel I have to say things and not disguise them in my books. Books should be a release, an escape, and that’s the way I want to keep them. So I’ve begun writing articles about topics I feel I cannot stay quiet about.
I felt I needed to post this before I started posting articles.
The last thing I’ll say about this here is this: this is the first time technology has come after the creative community. They/we have always been immune. We’ve never had to deal with the fact that by writing our books and publishing them independently, by making videos on YouTube and editing and publishing them independently, we have been in a steady march toward eliminating other people’s jobs. Now technology has come for us. So get better or go extinct. And I’ll say it one last time: you don’t like what I just told you, fine — don’t like it, and get the fuck off my lawn. Or come and let’s talk about how to move forward in this new world.
